Vee Speers, Guilty Not Guilty

Seeking to confront our prejudices and the contexts in which we perceive others, Speers artfully manipulates a collection of mugshots from the midcentury to give their criminal subjects a second chance at judgement. Utilizing bold color and AI animation to bring them to life, Speers offers the subjects new identities that might contradict our initial prejudices. Now it is up for us to decide: are they guilty or not guilty?

Sixties in Los Angeles - Joey Tranchina

Between his assignments for corporate or newspaper publications, Joey Tranchina took thousands of photographs of Los Angeles in the sixties. He is now turning eighty and his son thought that it was time to go through the archive. Together, they sorted out negatives, proofsheets and selected images that give a tender and nostalgic vision of life in the City of Angels in that era.
