Founder of the gallery « 1900-2000 », Marcel Fleiss is the author of mythical photos of jazz musicians. He settled very young in NY where he began to spend many time in the historical places on which happen the « Jazz revolution ». He quickly obtained the authorisation to photograph musicians on stage; he even replaced once the official photographer of the mythical Birdland room! At this time, he worked with the french magazine Jazz Hot, and made an incredible number of american artists known to the general public. For example he wrote the first paper on Charles Mingus or Gigi Gryce. Today and since 1981, Marcel Fleiss manages the gallery 1900-2000 in Paris and defends the 20th and 21st centuries art.
