Clark & Pougnaud, Mood Indigo
from Friday, April 04, 2014 to Saturday, May 17, 2014
Pougnaud is a painter. For the sets of ‘Mood Indigo’, she applied raw pigments of solid color to miniatures she has built to scale, which are then shot by Clark in their studio. The lighting for ‘Mood Indigo’ was a concerted effort and achieved through stylize geometrical openings. The characters are shot separately and inserted into the image. Their work is inscribed in the Narrative Figuration movement. Its originality resides in the duality between the use of contemporary digital technology and a pictorial world with obvious references to painters such as Edward Hopper and Wilhelm Hammershoi.
