German Photographer of international fame, Christopher Thomas was fascinated by The Play of Passion at Oberammergau, Bavaria. Since 1633, the inhabitants made the vow to play the Passion of Christ every ten years. His photographs were made during the rehearsals in 2010. He focused on portraits. The choice of colours, subtle tones of brown and grey, are reminiscent of painters of the seventeenth century such as Rembrandt, Caravaggio or Zurbaran.
