Dizzy Gillespie, Juan les Pins, September 1958

Dizzie Gillespie was arriving from New York and as soon as he got off the plane, he took me in his limousine, leaving there the other photographers waiting for him. These were all the more embittered that at the time I looked 15 years old. But what they didn’t know is that, thanks to Daniel Filipacchi, I already knew him. As he passed by the sea, he said to me: "Let’s go swimming"!
