Carly Simon, Los Angeles, 1975

"We never intended to have a sexual innuendo. Carly just happens to be one of the sexier women in the world. "That was an ongoing sequence of hundreds of shots, all in that particular outfit. The album cover was published in Time and Newsweek as one of the sexiest ones of all time, but in fact Carly was doing a bunch of yoga stretches. You can see the sequences of images leading up to that shot. "Carly, who had anxiety going up on stage, had no anxiety in the photo session. She's very free, and she has this extraordinary confidence in herself and just loves to have fun. Sometimes I have to work on an artist to loosen them up because they're not natural performers. Not her."
